Chillis
Once, in Australia, I found some jewellery with small glass chillis which I thought was the coolest thing ever, since I had never seen any creative glass beads like that.
Then I came to Chinatown in Yokohama (the biggest in the world) where I found them hanging on every street stall. Still looks very cool though.
They are supposed to be good luck charms, I think. I heard something about the chillis breaking, or breaking them yourself, if you happened to avoid some bad luck.
