Prayer Plates

These wooden plates are common at Buddhist temples. You buy one, write your wishes and prayers on it, and hang it up on the rack or tree that the temple has set aside for the purpose. Later, the monks will take them down and burn them so they prayers come true.

This shot is from Kiyomizu-dera (Kiyomize Temple).
