Need to accomplish *something*

Didn’t get past the 6th station on Fuji. Note to self: be more fit.

Still got two more full days here though, so I’m going to CATCH UP ON ALL MY BLOG POSTS TODAY, dagnammit.

Right after I get breakfast.

Choices, choices

Hmmmm…..

Should I finally catch up on my blog posts on activities that include: Kamakura, Harajuku, Akihabara, Nakano, drunken shenanigans, Shibuya, shopping, the most awesome hat ever, Nikko, Canadians, Tsukiji Fish Market and sex shops?

….OR should I go out and do some window shopping in Shinjuku and Akihabara, with a promise of a Subway lunch?

T minus 6 hours 45 minutes

Posted on June 16th, 2007 in Japan 2007, Travel, Meta, Geekery

6 hours to go.

Going to be completely on my own this time. No tour company or employer to hold my hand. 20kg on my back for the next 6 weeks, to steadily increase as I find cute toys and gatchapon machines, heh.

I’m such a geek.

Blog working correctly: well, I hope I don’t fail on some Internet Explorer bugs. IE sucks, you should all know that and should switch to Firefox now. Stuff the IE bugs. It’s good enough for government work.

A Freddo Frog to the person (besides Eilix) who can tell me where the quote in the last sentence is from. Ooooh, trivia!

Feeling somewhat sleep deprived. Well, it is five in the freakin’ am. Think I’ll leave this here then.

Ja, ittekimasu.

chidade.net upgrade

Posted on April 8th, 2007 in Meta

Just moved chidade.net to a new server. Also moved this blog to a subdirectory as you may have noticed. Will have something put on the home page one day. You may need to update and RSS feeds you have. Hopefully the new one works.

Gah! I have schoolwork to do, I shouldn’t be working on this >.<

Updates

Posted on February 23rd, 2006 in Intarweb, Meta, Rants

Am slowly updating the blog. First I converted from Wordpress 1.5 to 2.0.1, which went by with only a few hiccups, now I’m in the process of reinstalling the old plugins, adding some new ones, and as you can see, changing the layout.

Some things I am planning to include:

  • Yongfook’s Google Earth plugin
  • Keitai (mobile) photo blog
  • Obligatory “Mood” and “Currently Listening to:” fields
  • Podcasts/Vodcasts
  • …actual posts

But first! A rant:

This blog was created purely because I needed a Wordpress API key for various Wordpress plugins. I am not happy about this. I have downloaded the Wordpress software and am hosting it myself at http://chidade.net so I have no need for a Wordpress.com blog.It seems to be simply the effort of Wordpress to become the next Livejournal or Blogspot that made them decide to require a Wordpress.com API. This is incredibly harsh and stupid, especially when you read the quote “WP.com blogs are provided as a free service. This policy may change in the future.”

APIs are common enough to sign up for, but why couldn’t my support account at Wordpress.org cover it? Or, why couldn’t I sign up for one at the time of downloading your blogging software? Why must it only be through a Wordpress.com account?

Nice one, Wordpress. You made me sign up for a free-for-now blog on your servers that I never needed, just to get an API key that you are actively encouraging plugin developers to incorporate into their code. I even need this API key to use the spam-filtering plugin you included with the blogging software install. What is the point of distributing this plugin with the software, or indeed the software at all if you’re going to make us sign up for one of your Wordpress.com blogs? One that we will eventually be asked to pay for?

Sure, open source might be free-as-in-free-speech, not free-as-in-free-beer but this kind of manipulation smacks of Microsoft.

This blog has been pretty empty, I know. But, I’ve finally fixed the IE bugs (at the expense of Addictions…hmmm) and have added a gallery. It has every photo worth looking at that I’ve taken since I bought my Xacti C5. Many are pictures of leaves…they…well…look, they just are.

Am slowly typing out all the blog entries I wrote while I didn’t have internet, so you may notice some backdated entries appearing out of nowhere. So, you know, please bear with me. I get easily distracted by shiny objects and the…ooh, my BLEACH download has finished!
